Idaho Energy Collaborative
Endorsement Form
Whereas,
• The Idaho Energy Collaborative is an interdisciplinary coalition of individuals from private businesses and
non-profit organizations who are concerned about energy systems and policy in Idaho,
• America's current system of energy production and consumption is not economically sustainable in the long
term, relies on naturally limited fuel supplies, damages and pollutes the environment, and aids in accelerating
global climate change, which further threatens the economy, environment, national security, public health,
food production, and wildlife populations,
• Renewable energy technologies (including solar, wind, geothermal, biomass, and low-impact hydro) offer
economically viable alternatives to this system that mitigate environmental harm and lessen our dependence
on limited resources, and can presently supplement and eventually replace fuel sources in the existing energy
system,
• Energy efficient practices, technologies, building operations, and construction considerations decrease energy
use and demand, which lessen the economic and environmental impacts of energy consumption,
• The state of Idaho needs to have adequate financing mechanisms for investments in renewable energy and
energy efficiency,
• With an abundant supply of renewable energy resources and the capacity to implement widespread energy
efficiency and conservation practices, Idaho has the ability to meet its energy needs with affordable solutions
that are cleaner and safer than its current energy framework,
• Developing a clean energy economy in Idaho will create new jobs and lead to economic growth,
• The broad base of support and participation in the Idaho Energy Collaborative equates to a common voice with
a common message from the citizens of Idaho who know they can positively impact the transformation to a
sustainable energy future,
We / I the undersigned endorse the efforts of the Idaho Energy Collaborative and its vision of maintaining an Idaho in which:
1. Reliance on polluting sources of non-renewable energy is phased out expeditiously, and is replaced by a
diverse portfolio of renewable energy technologies.
2. Barriers to accessing renewable energy sources statewide are removed, and use of these sources is embraced
and encouraged.
3. Energy efficiency practices are valued and rewarded.
4. Idahoans enjoy a clean, healthy environment and a thriving, clean energy economy.
